ENCHANTED FOREST MASQUERADE RAISES THOUSANDS FOR WRC
Some summer nights are worth savoring; on those nights the world seems at its best. WRC's annual gala, Night of the Wild Ones: Enchanted Forest Masquerade, was one of those nights.
The weather, the food, the entertainment and the gorgeous setting were near perfect as 326 people assembled in a large tent on a polo field in Medina to help raise money for WRC and to honor Virginia Lord and Harry Sweatt.
The event grossed $20,000 more than last year and had the highest revenue in the 11 years of the event. Led by 2013 committee chairwoman Denise Mallery, sponsorships exceeded our budget and were $13,000 more than 2012. In today's tough economy this is an incredibly accomplishment. We're so fortunate to have a talented committee pull this event together.
Several wonderful trips boosted excitement over the live auction, which raised nearly $31,000.
Thank you to all who made this wonderful evening possible.
If you weren't able to attend, we have some photos here.
A couple years ago a large heronry on the Mississippi River ws destroyed by a tornado. Sadly, only nine chicks were found alive.
All were transported to the WRC where they were raised and then released back into the wild. Their release was a celebration that captured everyone's hearts in the Twin Cities and the first step in a community's healing.
