RESCUED LOON

Despite the amazing rescue and our medical effforts, the juvenile loon featured on KARE11 died. We're not sure why it didn't migrate, but its white blood cells rapidly climbed; showing it was battling an infection, parasite or some type of virus. We sent the loon to a lab for a necropsy. Hopefully the results will help the USFWS and the MNDNR determine why there have been many loon deaths on that lake this year.

SIMPLY SCIENCE VISITS WRC

One of the Twin Cities more popular evening news segments, Simply Science with Sven Sundgaard, stopped by WRC to film a segment on the work we do.

Sven had dropped off an injured pigeon earlier in the week and was interested in learning more about what happens "behind the scenes."
