Congratulations Jessika! All your long hours paid off! It was such a magical experience watching these little guys grow up, I wish i could have been in town for the release. This is truly what the WRC is all about!

The case of the American Toad is a classic example of WRC's mission statement. Some might wonder about the pretty intense and potentially expensive treatment described by Renee, especially considering that we are also admitting 75 new patients every day. But we are committed to "provide quality medical care for all" wild animals no matter the species or the cost. This case also embraces our goal of "sharing our knowledge." Procedures such as this provide valuable experience and training not only for our staff but also for the many veterinary students who intern here during the summer.

Oh, I do so hope they thrive! What wonderful, gorgeous little birds - and very labor intensive to raise.

I recently read "Birdology" by Sy Montgomery, which contains a terrific (not to mention suspensful) chapter about a rehabber who specializes in hummingbirds. It really gives you an appreciation for the people who dedicate so much of their time and energy to raising these little flying jewels. Highly recommended reading for those who love birds!

It was great to see "Otis" on your website. When I first got a hold of him I didn't think he was going to make it. But through a night of keeping him warm and feeding him every couple of hours Otis did better. I would have loved to keep him but know that it is better that he would be returned to the wild and meet new friends. Its sad to hear that 90% don't make it. But thru your wonderful efforts I can only say thank you for rehabing "Otis".

What a great outcome! Canada geese are such wonderful parents, too. I love how they parent together, both watching over their young.

Whoa - look at those crazy, oversized feet! Glad to hear that the fracture is "fixable". I bet he's the star of the avian nursery.
