A perfect summer evening for the 15th annual Night of the Wild Ones.

More than 300 guests enjoyed a perfect summer evening at the 15th annual Night of the Wild Ones event on August 12, 2017.  The theme, a midsummer night’s fantasy, was beautifully represented by our talented event committee.  Many of the guests dressed for the occasion and enjoyed portraits from the Snap Yourself photo booth.  It was a splendid celebration of summer in Minnesota and WRC.

Once again the live auction featured some fabulous experiences, including a trip for two on a 7-day cruise of the Windward Islands on the famous Royal Clipper 5-masted sailing ship;  a Porsche driving experience at their center in Atlanta, Ga., hotel included; a private villa on the Caribbean island of Bequia; and a Grand Luxxe Residence Platinum stay at Riveria Maya.

We had a record 36 other sponsors, whose contributions surpassed our previous high for sponsorship revenue. Overall, the event grossed nearly $165,000 and matched last year’s record total.

It was a pleasure to honor WRC Board Chair Denise Mallery at the event.  Denise first came to WRC when she brought her considerable creative talents to help create original graphics for the 2009 gala.  She followed that with a memorable design for the 2010 Nocturnal theme, which also featured original poetry and a special performance of the Minnesota Dance Theatre – truly a Night of the Wild Ones which became the “brand” name for the event.

Denise went on to chair the gala committee in 2013 and 2014.  It was her inspiration to recruit Gordon Coons to create the original work of art that reflected the powerful role of animals in Ojibwe heritage.  In January of this year she became the chair of WRC’s Board of Directors.

Many Thanks to our 2017 Event Committee!

This energized team of volunteers works tirelessly throughout the year to pull off one of the best galas in the Twin Cities. We are so thankful for the donation of their time and the passion they hold for WRC.
